Looking for some input on the Shimano Crucial baitcasting rods. My plans are to try and pick up one used since they are a discontinued rod to pair with my Shimano Citica 200 G. For those of you who have owned these rods what do/did you like about them and what did you feel were their limitations. Anyone have one laying around idle they would consider parting with?

Are you looking for cork or the black handle rods?

I have a few Shimano Crucial rods that I purchased around 10 years ago and fish for about 5 or 6 years until last year. I absolutely love these rods, sensitive, light and the over the counter lifetime warranty.

Except, the lifetime warranty that came wit the rod when I purchased the rods is no longer valid. The insert the insert on the rod guide on the tip of m y 7' MH worm rod came out, nothing else was wrong wit the rod. It wasn't broken or abused. I contacted Shimano and they said since the rod was discontinued, the warranty process was to mail the rod to Shimano at my expense, pay Shimano for the 'warranty repair' and if it couldn't be fixed the rod would be destroyed and I would be SOL. Their explanation was the product was discontinued so the warranty was as well.

I will NEVER buy another Shimano product again, new or used.

You are looking a a $20 repair to have it done properly. Depending on where you live try a Google search, you may even look up a fishing reel repair. They might be able to point you in the right direction. I live in Dallas and I take my rods to Southwest Parts & Service.

Old School I did take it to Southwest Parts and Service, it was $20 and it looks great. I am ticked off because they will not honor the original lifetime warranty. I cannot trust a company that does that. Fool me once...
