Thanks

The day after catching a lot of fish is still a good day.

My go to for reds is a H&H 3" curl tail grub (pumpkin/chartreuse) on a 1/8 oz screw lock jig head. It's not often a red will pass it up. I've caught trout, flounder and black drum on it too. Aside from that a topwater and a couple of gold & silver spoons and that's honestly about all you'd need. I carry a bunch of other soft plastics and lures but hardly ever use them. Have a whole worm bag full of soft plastics including Gulp that are over 2 years old that I never touch and probably need to throw away.

If you're fishing over grass it's good to have some weedless weighted hooks along with your soft plastic (paddletail) of your choice.

You get out of it what you put into it!

Maybe Academy- those here in Houston carry them.

You may find them locally, but you will definitely find them at the tackle stores down close to the gulf. The Academy stores south of Houston, or in Corpus have 3-4x the amount of saltwater gear than those around you.

If you are driving, you could stop at Cabelas in Gonzales. There is a Bass Pro in Denham Springs, but it east of the I01/I12 split. There is also an Academy just north of I10 in Kenner that would be an option. It's a pain to stop but sometimes you just have to.

Check out Bite and Fight Angler on Facebook. He is my son & lives in Alvin, TX. He makes soft plastic baits as a side gig, and the people that use his baits love them. He sends me pix all the time of hauls of specs, flounder, and redfish that he and other fishermen have caught.

Tell him his Pops sent you!
