If I were one of the design engineers, I would be booking a one way flight out to a non extradition country before that thing gives way. His or her life expectancy may be related to that of the dam.

People talk about a Black Swan event...this would be a doozie of a Black Swan if the 3G dam were to give way. The effects of that happening would be felt around the world.
I can't imagine the engineering problem they're facing to somehow mitigate what is going on. It's a *giant* structure, holding back God knows how much water, and it was not attached to the bedrock like it should have been (from what I've read). Now the thing is moving. How in the world is that fixed? I obviously don't have the foggiest.
I do know, though, that none of us want that thing to go. So many various industries are centered in pockets downstream of there and many of those could be entirely wiped out. You've got manufacturing centers, global financial centers, all those pharmaceutical labs the world depends on - it'd really, really suck if that dam were to fail in some sort of spectacular fashion.

Can you imagine the giant fish living in the Yangtze River!  Well can you imagine what Giants could be living in it if it wasn't so polluted?  I've read reports that scuba divers saw catfish the size of volkswagens by the dam last year. I read divers saw catfish the size of a school bus,

It would cause earthquakes on top of flooding. 100' high wall of water moving at 60-70 mph for 100's of miles. Ya, that's gonna cause a slight issue.

The articles that I have seen state that there was mass corruption in the building of it and they used subprime product and even left stuff out. No idea if that is true; but wouldn't be surprised.
