Never been there before...what is the best ramp to use? Any hazards to speak of? Also, if anyone is willing to let me know if I should go above or stay below the bridge for finding fish I would appreciate it!

Agree with Lone Wolf. Oak Cove is where we launch and both arms are loaded with underwater hazards regardless of lake level. The dam can be very productive early and easy to get to.

^^^This^^

Safe areas are the boat docks on southwest side of lake and southeast corner of dam Not knowing the lake I would fish deep main lake points with docks and some of the old willow stands in the area. Normally you can catch decent numbers and the whites will come up on top during the day some.

GO FISH!

Yep. That lake scares me. Just wear a life jacket and have your insurance paid up. Haha. Trees in places where it just doesn’t seem possible. It can be 50ft and 3ft deep in a blink of an eye. In the middle of the lake. And trees in 50ft too. Almost always trees in front of docks. In 10-15 ft.

That said, there are some REALLY large bass in that lake. Not uncommon to catch a DD in that lake. And it usually takes 30+ pounds to win a small club tourney there.

IDK about that for a small club tourney but yes its happened, it has some large fish in it and they tend to be on the larger size but don't catch numbers there. I think for its size that lake has a low bass population, hybrid and sandy population is great and thats probably why.

They are all correct, the lake has no boat lanes so be careful not to hit some of the large trees that are under the water. Going North if you stay on the East side around the island closer to the docks than the island you should be ok, going N from the 2859 bridge the timber can be anywhere so be very careful from there. Going South try and stay in the middle or close to is until you get to the convergence, then going West there are many trees under the water. The black forest on the South side and stands on the North side so you have a window open in the middle for a short way then trees above the water. There is a ridge down the middle from N to S that was an old river levy but it is well under the water but there are some trees on the top, Lots of under water structure to fish as well as docks and large fish can be caught, fishing has been slow for all species until the other day when the lake turned on, the white bass and hybrid guides are limiting out on live shad in 25-30 ft of water, one of them caught a 10 lb bass while fishing for them, channel cats are in 20-22 ft of water off the old main channel, the bass have been off deep points as well as around docks with brush as well as brush piles placed in the water by other anglers. Crappie have been in the trees as well as brush piles 20-25 ft of water and under the bridges.
Oak Cove marina has the best ramp as well as a motel and cafe with very good food. Be safe and have a great time.
