Ok guys,

Next question, regarding motor hole options. I am currently sitting at ~4" Prop to Pad. I have a 2006 Yamaha VZ225TLR HPDI and I am maxed out on my jackplate and cannot move the motor any further up. So here's the question, should I move the motor 1 more hole up as pictured below? I've numbered the holes for reference. #1 hole is what I'm thinking of moving, #2 hole will allow for the engine to slide that extra distance and #3 shows the jackplate maxed. What I'm worried about is the stress on the motor bracket and if it would damage it. I am not wanting to move the jackplate up on the transom if I do not have to. Any thoughts or has anyone mounted in that hole before?

doesn't that jack plate have a second set of holes on top?

my cmc does but is hydraulic.

jackplate also looks to be mounted low, is it flush with the top of transom or even close?

Hopalong, the jackplate is low, but I wanted to have that as a last resort. I just don't want to mess with the transom. Are you talking about the transom side or motor side of the jackplate on the second set of holes? I do have another set of holes for the jackplate on the transom side, but I was hoping to avoid that.... It may have to happen. What do you think about me moving it up on the motor side to the bottom hole?

The pics look to me like both the motor and the jack plate are as high as they can go.

Hi Wayne, there is actually a hole left in both, where the transom and jackplate meet and where the motor and jackplate meet. So, I had it up to 5500 rpms this weekend. I had a little extra play in my hot foot. I did notice it felt like it was missing, but I had it trimmed up all the way and i think that was the boat making contact with the water and that was causing the slipping...maybe and hopefully. I may bite the bullet and have a tech take a look at it.

Picking that motor up off the transom is probably a PITA. I have not had to do that on my boat yet, but that motor wieghs around 600#, so its going to take a cherry picker to lift it. Fortunately, I have a cherry picker but I am still not looking forward to doing that.

Getting the prop to pad height right makes a huge difference in the way the motor performs. I run mine at 3.5". I might be able to fine tune it, but it does well at that height. I have a hydraulic Jack Plate with a blinker lever jack plate adjustment on the steering helm, so its easy to change the setting.
