I was informed of this today. The building next to the Diversionary Canal Boat Ramp ,off 2nd Street, is now a newly owned bait camp and grill (which is not complete). The building is on stilts and the underneath are 4 working circular tanks . The wife showed me some pics.....one tank with shrimp, the other with finger mullet....can't say anything about the 3rd one nor the prices of the bait. I'll check that out tomorrow, along with a phone #. BTW, it's a bait, bar, and grill....altho the grill is not ready as yet. The ramp is a public ramp, so NO charge to launch. The distance from the ramp to Jones Lake by water is about 6 miles. The canal is deep but when you get to the entrance of the canal and go into the lake, things start getting shallow quick, so be careful if your not familiar with the area. Just bare to the right to get to the ICW. That "ditch" may still be marked with PVC pipe and maybe 2 feet deep or so. Stay safe and remember to take a kid fishing. 7/3/20 v Live shrimp Qt....$20 Pt.....$11 Dead Bait Lb. $5 (shrimp) Mullet Doz..$10
BTW: The water is transported in from G-town. The salintity level in the canal by the bait camp is a lot lower there. The owners shrimp boat is docked at Pier 19, thus the shrimp and water come from there. BTW, bring your own groceries, drinks, etc. Not much tackle for sale there so get what you need somewhere else for now. It's been open only 5 days now and today is Tuesday the 4th

There was a camp there 30 years a go, same venue bait burgers and beer, must have got blown away in one of the storms. I fished out of there there several times.

In Hitchcock. Come up Hwy 6 and make a left at the Red Light onto 2nd street. About a mile down 2nd street you will come to the Canal. The ramp is on the left and the bait camp.
