Materials used 1/2 inch PVC 1/2 inch PVC regular end caps (NOT the threaded ones) Pool noodles White duct tape 3/8 inch rebar Screw eyes Swivels Size 5 split rings or just use heavy duty snap swivels PVC cement 30lb big game Size 5 or size 6 circle hooks 2oz weights 5 min two part epoxy All purpose type 1 silicone Rubber mallet A little bit of water Scissors Drill and drill bit Dremel with cutting dremel disc Saw Knife Sharpie to write your name/address/date Optional Hi vis Spray paint ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/08/full-30144-61668-e25b1d8d_5a96_476b_b3b3_26a2e4ec6f2f.jpeg)

Method:
Cut rebar into 2-3 inch pieces (one piece per tube)
Cut pvc into 1.5 foot to 2.5 foot sections
Two end caps per tube, drill a hole in one of them and cover hole in two part epoxy and screw in screw eye
PVC cement the screw eye end cap and press that end cap snuggly onto pvc tube
Drop in 3/8 diameter 2-3 inch long rebar piece. FIll with just a little bit of water so that it goes to just above that rebar piece
Place other end cap with pvc cement
The rebar with a little water in there is the right amount of weight and density so that the pvc jug lines stand straight up when there is a fish on the other end
The rest is self explanatory
Did some Crig style and some dropper set up. Think I prefer the dropper set up
Lessons learned
—make sure someone didn’t put a threaded end cap or wrong sized end cap in with the regular non threaded end caps at the store
—use at least 2oz weight
—Err on the side of more floatation/pool noodle, not less
—cut the pvc cleanly or it will warp making putting the end cap on there more difficult
—mallet, brute force, and 2 part epoxy correct any ill fitting end caps

As far as the PVC tubes, the longer they are, the easier they are to see
The shorter ones are more manageable in the kayak. With the boat, there is plenty of room.
Both 12ft of line crig style to weight and then another foot of line to hook and 18ft dropper style (16ft to swivel and then 2ft to 2oz weight with 8-10 inch line to hook from swivel). have worked equally well You can use a three way swivel with the dropper set up or tie mainline and weight line to one end of swivel with dropper line off the other end (swivel oriented horizontally)
I’ll be placing some more tomorrow and will update.

Both styles work equally well
If I were to do them over again, 5oz weights or cement weights.
Be sure to name, address, date. Warden checked today and said I got an A+. He even checked the level on both of my fire extinguishers. I’m certain he is a lot of fun at parties.

Those are great! Word to the wise...if you set them on Texoma do it during the week and/or don't venture too far off. I have had a dozen or so stolen. Saw a boater make off with 3 recently but I was in a 'yak so nothing I could do.

I was keeping them in sight by fishing the same cove, when I saw a boater plow right through the middle of them on purpose (he could have easily gone around them as we were the only two boats in the entire cove)
I’m close to certain he also called the warden on me to check for name, address, date

 Do gooders....too worried about other people and can't take care of themselves. 2 of the 3 wardens in Grayson county that patrol the water are great guys. The other you don't have to worry to much about as he stays off Texoma unless he is called out specifically.

A fishing line with five or less hooks and a gear tag tied to a free-floating device.
For use in fresh water only.
May be used to take nongame fish, channel catfish, blue catfish and flathead catfish only.
Tagging and Marking Requirements
Must be used with a valid gear tag (see Definitions) attached within 6 inches of the free-floating device; gear tag is valid for 6 days after the date set out and must include the number of the permit to sell nongame fish taken from fresh water, if applicable. Properly marked buoys or floats qualify as valid gear tags.
For non-commercial purposes, a jugline must be marked with a free-floating device of any color other than orange that is not less than 6 inches in length and 3 inches in diameter.
For commercial purposes, a jugline must be marked with an orange, free-floating device that is not less than 6 inches in length and 3 inches in diameter.
Placement and Location Restrictions
Juglines may not be used in:
Community Fishing Lakes
Reservoirs or sections of rivers lying totally within the boundaries of a state park
Bellwood Lake in Smith County
Boerne City Lake in Kendall County
Brushy Creek Lake and Brushy Creek downstream from the lake to the Williamson/Milam County line
Canyon Lake Project #6 in Lubbock County
Dixieland Reservoir in Cameron County
Gibbons Creek Reservoir in Grimes County
Lake Bastrop in Bastrop County
Lake Bryan in Brazos County
Lakes Coffee Mill and Davy Crockett in Fannin County
Lake Pflugerville in Travis County
Lake Naconiche in Nacogdoches County
North Concho River from O.C. Fisher dam to the Bell Street dam
South Concho River from Lone Wolf dam to Bell Street dam
Tankersley Reservoir in Titus County
Wheeler Branch Reservoir in Somervell County
