Saw them once on the Ram it Down tour in Austin in 88 I think. Halford came onstage with a Harley doing burnouts and doughnuts until the back tire blew. Awesome vocals. Great show!!!
But If we're taking heavy metal there will never be another band that compares with Metallica, at least until the Black album came out. No doubt Metallica is the best ever. Met James Hatfield and Cliff Burton after a show with Armored Saint back in 1984 ( I believe) at the Arcadia Theater. We were there with Dimebag and Vinnie Paul from Pantera. Vinnie handed them a demo cassette. They ended up jamming together for a couple days up in Muenster Tx.

I give Metallica Black album the edge slightly over Pantera Far Beyond Driven album. Only because I’m broken is most bad azz heavy metal song ever.

1st time I saw Pantera(1988) they sounded like JP

Nice intro but it stayed basically the same thru out. Wanted it to come harder at the end. If that makes sense.

First six Sabbath albums and then Heaven and Hell + Mob Rules are the best eight Heavy Metal albums from one band.
