Saw them once on the Ram it Down tour in Austin in 88 I think. Halford came onstage with a Harley doing burnouts and doughnuts until the back tire blew. Awesome vocals. Great show!!!
But If we're taking heavy metal there will never be another band that compares with Metallica, at least until the Black album came out.

You guys ever check out Steel Panther? They are a satire / comedy 80s hair band. Despite the jocular nature of the group and the songs they can lay down some serious tunes. They do some fantastic covers of classic songs too.
