For those of you running Lunds, how hard is it to keep such a high profile boat on a pile? Doesn't the wind toss you around?

I don't have a Lund...but did have an Alumacraft Tournament Sport 185 Deep-V with the full windshield for 8 years...and my tournament partner has a Lund 1875.

My Alumacraft had an 80lb Fortrex on it, and unless the wind was 20MPH in my face, I did not have any problems...even with the windshield.

Wes' Lund 1875 has a 101lb Fortrex. We have fished in very high winds with it, no problem.

With these boats being lighter than glass boats, they can handle it with 80-101lbs of thrust up front. Also remember that when you are on a brushpile...you are facing into the wind, so the higher sides are not as big of a deal since the wind is blowing "down" the boat and not across the side of it wink

No problems staying put in wind. The boat tracks very well. 1900ProV

I have a Lund Pro-V 1800 with an 80# TM. No problems holding but high winds mean big waves. You still pitch up and down.

Red

P.S. This is the best all around boat I've ever had. I'm sitting down in it rather than on top of a deck...getting old sucks.

yes it does, hence we are looking for something more like a center console or Lund.

Don't know if they still do it. Mine is a 2006 model. Back then, the carpet was snap in for the main bottom floor. I took it out immediately.
The rest of the boat is still carpet.

I don't it have anything to do with the boat, as it is depended on your Trolling Motor. I have 1850 Impact XS with the Terrova. It hold the boat great over the brush pile as long as there some wind. Spot lock doesn't work that great if it dead calm (IMO). Not all Lund are carpet, so pick the one that fits your style. I got the impact as it an 80% fishing and 20% family. Mine have carpet in the front, but all vinyl on the main deck. Hope that help!

I bought a 2004 "Mr Pike" edition this year. Upgraded the TM to an Ultrex. I have no problem on the Tn River in either high wind or high current. If I Spot Lock, the back end will fish tail some, but a sea anchor (drift sock) off the stern helps keep it stabilized.

It appears they have some sort of snap in vinyl or something like that. I am getting away from carpet

Thanks, I'll check into this more. I know the trolling motor is important, but with the high sides and being aluminum (light weight), didn't want to be pushed all over by a breeze. I can do that now with the xpress lol

Crestliner is another good option. And vinyl flooring is great.

Take a look at Ranger Fisherman Series and Nitro Multi Species Series.

I have a Lund 2075 Pro V Bass. It is essentially a V hulled bass boat with 2-3" gunnels. At 21' it is extremely stable and the wind doesn't touch it. Traded in a 1875 Lund for this one and it didn't have a problem with the wind either.
