I’ve heard of limited by time alimony in Texas but have actually never known anyone who paid it.

I know the feeling. I had some payback satisfaction with mine. With the legal wording they use for the payments, she misunderstood the decree. The month after the last agreed/mandated payment, I got a call from her: "Aren't you forgetting something?" I said nope, I'm done paying; you won't be getting any more from me. She was furious, certain I was just stopping, and not paying when I should. She threatened to take me to court to which I replied "Go right ahead." I have not heard from her since.

Feel about 99% recovered from the Covid. Took over 3 weeks to feel normal. Still working from home which isn't as fun as one would think it is. Outside of that everything is grand.

Alimony is Texas isn't for a lifetime like lots of other states, it's based on years of marriage. I got off easy on that part because her and her lawyer sucked at math. Could have been a lot worse.

My son believes that in a purely financial and legal reason, marriage is not beneficial for the man. He is 21 and believes this to the point that he has decided to never get married or have kids.

Why is a divorce so expensive?

It's worth it.

In a purely pragmatic sense, it is hard to disagree.

But that just means he hasn't met her yet.

I liked Chris Rock's take on it. "You make 3 million a year and she wants half, no big deal. But you make 30 thousand... you might have to kill her!"

Some day one organ will outgrow the other.

Thirty before I got married the first time, took about thirty minutes for it to go south.
