This is just normal now, I see it everywhere I go. You did the right thing, take the high road everytime, just let it go.

You handled it well. Avoid unnecessary stress, there's already enough of that in the world.
Think of this situation as an opportunity to find two or three other morning topwater locations.

Back in the day we would have a little get together on the bank, but just about everybody carries now days so I think you did the right thing.

Just a couple of notes on this incident...

1) My wife and I are now in our mid-70s... 75 to be exact... I am much too old to "come on over" any more... I do well to get from the pickup to the boat when we launch and its even tougher when we get back to the ramp.. its all up hill at the ramp. And all down hill at this stage of life.

2) It was my wife "The Boss" telling (a polite way of putting it) me to shut up and move on... She is very concerned about other folks who might be carrying and not in full command of their senses.

3) I used the term "my spot" incorrectly... I don't consider any location on the lake to be "my spot". It's a public lake. And, if there is someone on a location I like to fish, I just move on to the next one... I have fished Whitney for 25 years so I have many locations that I fish... "my spot" was meant to be "where I was at the moment" and that was where we were fishing one small 20' area along the shore. Not moving at the time.

4) We did move on and did have a good day and in fact it was a great day... it was later that the incident began to weigh on my mind.

Thanks for all the comments.

I've never understood the lets fight over a fishing spot. So, I think you handled this perfectly regardless of you age or physical abilities. It's freaking fishing and some people need to learn how to chill. Karma generally always catches up to people like the one you mentioned in your OP and if that doesn't then God will.

The reason people act like that is because everyone allows them to act like that. It will take someone that believes in right and wrong and willing to take the risk to stand on the side of right and handle the situation…..and then he won't do it again.

Just read your update on your ages and the situation. I understand why you did what you did but I certainly hope that someone else handles him differently if they are able to.

This is the reason I don’t ever go to a lake and bass fish anymore. I’m either fishing the small bodies of water near the house and never burning more than 3 gallons of gas or I just go to the salt. Bass fishing has gotten ridiculous in 2020 with all the new idiots on the water. I don’t know if I could’ve kept my tongue with that guy.

If the wife was with me I would have done same thing as you no doubt.

If I was by myself which is most likely it could have gone either way to be honest. All depends on how my morning would have been going up to that point. I would like to think I would have moved on with no incident but if he was a big enough smart [censored] he would have gotten a taste of what he was asking for.

After reading your update I’m a little more pissed off about this tough guy talking to you the way he did.

I simply believe now he was just being a bully and playing the odds that because of your age you would not do anything.
