Still making a living on his TV show. All he uses is spinnerbait, deep smoothy, and pow stick. Catches them everytime.

Spinner Baits were the only baits in my boat for 15 years back in the 60's and 70's. I would have 12 on deck to throw for all occasions that I might run into that day.
I have always built my own or modified some of the early BASS winners and prototypes from two of the best: Hank Parker and Bill Dance.
Conditions:
- All Around Confidence Tourn. Bait
- Stained Water Sunny Day.
- Stained Water Cloudy Day.
- Clear Water Sunny Day.
- Clear Water Cloudy Day.
- Orange Inclement Weather Bait.
- Deep Strolling Bait.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

Been using spinner baits for decades, though it isnā€™t all I use. Best results have always come from black and yellow skirted Strike Kings and double spinner H&H. Second best were always yellow skirted, and in the Spring the white skirted H&H was good on Crappie.

There will always be spinner baits in the tackle box.

My buddies used to make fun of me all the time and call me Jimmy... I have not used them much this year but I think that is going to change... Especially deep rollin' em slowly off shore!

I can't catch a cold with a spinnerbait. Chatterbait or swim bait catches them though. I can throw exact same setup as a buddy and he will beat me 10-1. Just not my thing

Mannā€™s Hank Parker Classic is money when they are biting it. Had a couple days where it was every other cast it felt like. Always have one tied on in my boat and it usually makes an appearance every time Iā€™m out.

Get two that you like and have CONFIDENCE in, and send them to Donald Harper to have him make you some. Best money I have spent ever on fishing lures, period. I send him pics from time to time. And probably one of the best resources on the site period.

My stash of old spinnerbaits is dwindling. I bought dozens of baits when Oshmanā€™s closed. Stanley, Oldhamā€™s, Bulldog to name a few. Downside to hoarding lures over the years and storing improperly is the skirts deteriorated. I donā€™t tinker with my old ones, but I do with some of the newer brands. I feel some of the blades are too big and I like to put on smaller blades. I also found a bottle of sparkling nail polish that I paint on one side of the blade. Boring times during COVID!

Two years ago I ordered 2 each of the ones Donald Harper listed above and I always have them in my boat. Honestly, I haven't used them much just because I don't have much confidence when I do. I think that's just me. I'd probably feel differently if I'd make myself use them more and see some success. I know of a lot of really nice fish that have been caught on SB's. FYI - the ones he makes are really high quality.

I know and I did. Some of the skirts I really liked were a manufacturer proprietary designed item.

Hereā€™s an old but good article from 1978. Good information still!
