Check this site out. Avid Bearings.

Iā€™ve known the owner for many years and ran thes ceramic bearings in my RC cars for years, now I run them in my reels and the work great at a 1/3 of the price.

I've spent a lot of money on upgrade bearings on all different kinds of reals. I started the high end bearing thing many years ago.
I came to the concusion in my case you can just about buy a new real.

All you get out of it is a reel that backlashes easier that a new one!!!............to some extent.

Thanks, Billy

Clean and oil the ones you have with a good quality oil (not a dry lube).

I have a few reels that have upgraded bearings in them...they are plenty smooth...but you need to baby them while casting...talk about professional overruns!

I find that new reels and older just need to be properly cleaned and oiled. When they come from the factory, they are way too over done and this cuts your performance down.

I agree with the ones above. I just run a Q-tip (or ardent Reel Clean Swabs) around the raceways and into the bearings on the end of your spool and put a drop of high quality oil in there and it should be good as new.

Thats my money fish

I've swapped in Boca Bearing, Orange seal ceramic bearing in most of my reels. I keep the reels cleaned and and very lightly oil the bearings.

When I used to guide saltwater trips, I used to replace the green curado bearings with the chronarch or Curado super free bearings. Used to get about 15-20 ' extra length on casting. I aso would lube them with royal purple and would only need to tear down and relube twice a year even in saltwater environment.
