So I was at Ray Roberts last Saturday and ran back into Sand branch and was a little surprised by how much grass I saw back there. Its been a while since I been on the lake and had no idea there was so much grass in that cove. I fished around some but it was 2pm when I went back there and I didn’t get any bites except a drum that bit. But the area looks awesome...my question is, is anyone catching anything back there in the grass? or would i be wasting my time throwing a frog or flipping it? It looked like it came all the way out to 5-6ft deep water in some places. I feel like there has to be some fish back there but I didn’t see anyone fishing it. PM’s are ok of I you don’t want to give public knowledge lol.

Info on RR is really tough to come by especially with how crowded it's been this year but I would have to think there are some fish in there if it's truly out to 4-5'. Would also guess its a first 2-3 hours of the day bite then gone after that.

Hydrilla or coontail? Either way it will hold fish probably more in a few weeks as shad start migrating back in the creeks for fall..... Fish the grass close to the creek channels and road bed/creek intersections back in there. I have caught them mid day early and late in there in the past. Bite better with some wind durning day

There’s a ton of grass in Ray Bob this year... just about every creek on the lake is loaded with it. Hydrilla is still a needle in a haystack but it’s there too.

This...

I've been hoping to stumble onto a patch or two that sits in 6'+ of water and has a creek bend near.

RR has been tough for sure...it's getting beat down daily now.

So the point of this post was to take pressure off Lavon?? We have had plenty of traffic on Roberts, there is really no need to promote it or the grass that is finally growing backgrin Hope you caught a few and now go back to your own lake grin

See you on the lake and have a great day!

Most of the grass is pond weed that I am seeing in Roberts. Based on the blurry photo it looks like pond weed. However, I haven't been in Sand but have seen a lot of pond weed in other mid lake creeks.

Sand started out with tons of hydrilla. The drought killed it off and then a bunch of coontail grew in there. Haven't been up there in a few years, but I bet it's coontail. There was usually some pond weed at the mouth of it back in the day too.

Awesome! I am actually just jealous as I have not been able to get out now for several weeks. Hopefully this upcoming Saturday will remain free! I was just messing with you and I seriously hope you caught a few, it was tough last time I was out!

You’re good man. I get very little time to fish myself and I’m trying to decide where to fish next Saturday when I get to go back. I was just wondering if I was wasting time fishing grass or if I should go search another place Ray Roberts is tough right now for sure. I caught a few 8” bass in Indian that morning and made a run down to Sand and it was late in the day. The area looked good but no one was there fishing the grass that was probably all I needed to know. I’m probably gonna fish a different area cause the Jordan Ramp was a total cluster..... I thought leaving the cluster at Lavon and fishing another lake would be nice I’ll give it another try and then I’ll head east next trip
