I have avoided braid on Texas Rig because of visibility.
Is this really an issue?

Yes. You absolutely will catch fish using braid, but you'll get more bites using fluorocarbon, copolymer or monofilament in most situations.

In very thick vegetation, brush, or muddy water, the difference in bites between braid and clear lines will be smaller. And in heavy cover, you will likely land fish that you would have broken off with clear line so there are situations where braid is the superior choice. I generally use heavy (15-25 lb) fluorocarbon for Texas rigs and jigs until thick vegetation or thick brush comes into play, then I'll switch to 50 lb braid.

On a clear e tex lake I had them chewing a specific bait for two weeks this spring and I got more bites on 15lb tatsu vs 20lb tatsu... I went back and forth between the two and I concrete believe it mattered then.

Count me in. Had Matt Reed tell me one time I was costing myself bites using braid. Good enough for me.

I've never noticed it cost me any bites.

Me either because bites are so far and few between for me but he fishes for a living and I do not so I'm just going to take his word for it. LOL.

I use 25 lb braid main line with a 15 lb flouro leader. The leader is usually as long as my rod. It’s worked well. I used to go straight braid when I would bank fish the Trinity and I caught a lot of fish, but the Trinity is gross and those fish didn’t seem to care.

One thing James Biggs told me to do was use a 15-20' leader so you can cut off multiple times without retying the main braid/floro knot as long as you don't stretch the leader too much. Also the weakest point is your braid/floro knot and fish tend to break off the most right at the boat so with a long leader your knot will be up in the reel. I'm no expert so interested in others opinion.

So does Greg Hackney and he throws straight braid. I know i can get as many bites on braid as flouro or mono

My t-rig rod is spooled straight flouro except for the backing. I used to be all braid, until I found out it was costing me bites. When I'm flipping in sticks, weeds, etc...straight braid, but when I'm casting and dragging a t-rig all flouro.

Both of those things make sense. I’ll be increasing my leader length.

Yes. I tried braid on my texas rig and jig rods back when Spiderwire was first becoming popular. It definitely cost me bites. I added a fluoro leader and my number of bites increased. I've gone to straight fluoro now.
