Just got back from a 3-day trip. Caught 328 in about 12 hours of fishing(3 afternoons), drank some cold Pacifico Light, and had a great time. For anyone on the fence about making this trip, go! God bless!

Used 40D toll road from Monterrey to Mazatlan. Made it from Zapata to Mazatlan in about 10.5 hours.

I would be leery of driving in Mexico in the current "climate". I bet the US consulate would NOT recommend such an endeavor.

Sounds amazing. Did y’all tow your own boats? If so where did y’all stay? Fuel a non issue enroute? Charging batteries at lake? And finally: only 12hrs of fishing in 3 days after driving down there?

Glad ya'll made it back alive!
Biden famously said in the New York Observer, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

cartel money has become harder to come by with the lock down. They can’t run the streets like before. They have resorted to kidnapping and extortion. New drug gangs have popped up, and issues now in areas where there was once calmness is not. Don’t let anyone tell you or don’t be telling people it’s safe to go. It’s not. If you go fishing and return in one piece, count it as a blessing. wish it wasn’t that way but it is. If you fly down there and grow a fever, they will not let you even enter the airport to fly back to US. Just be aware of that. Get the latest on Borderland Beats.

People been saying this about the cartels for 20 years. So don't believe this ! One of our employees just got back last week. No issue. Your safer in Mexico than you are in south Chicago

Your safer in Mexico than you are in south Chicago Nope, it's not safe. Spent 20+ years dragging a boat all over Mexico. Had an occasional run in with local constabularies on the hunt for the mordida. The last few years things have gone sideways. Been close to a gun battle between cartels in Nuevo Leon, automatic weapons/RPG. No one here loves fishing Mexico more than I do but at this time there's no way I'd drive into Mexico. I would consider a fly in trip as you have far less exposure. As someone else posted earlier, go to borderland beat and get a picture of what's going on in Mexico these days.

I do Ron Speed trips to Picachos, Comedero and El Salto. Fly in/out of Mazatlan and never felt uncomfortable on the van trips to and Fromm the lodges.
