The river between Cranes Mill and Rebecca creek is at a very bad level right now. I was there yesterday and there are two stumps, in particular, that are about two inches underwater. Both of these are large enough to do a lot of damage, and the really bad thing is, if you don't know they are there, you would think you are running the very middle of the channel. The good news is that the fishing is so bad, there are hardly any boats up there!

Next time out I'll have to see if I can find them so that I can drop a waypoint.
Unless you have the coords and want to post?

Thanks for the heads up.

What I learned on Canyon with my last trip is that boat ramp 6 is hard to launch at if you are by your self.
I don't recommend launching there if you are the only one to get your boat on/off the trailer.

[Linked Image] Here is a picture of one of them. The water is pretty clear, but there is 2 or 3 inches over it. I don't have coordinates, but I'll get them next time.

Be handy if someone would tie a jug to them, Iā€™m sure someone would cut it off though.

If my memory serves me they are located just about dead center in the river channel not far from entering the river where it just starts to narrow.
It's been a long time since I've been on Canyon, but I hit a stump twice in that area and I was in over 20' of water and in the middle. I wasn't going that fast but I ended up with a bent ear on my prop both times.
You are better off running off to one side or the other.
That river has a lot of surprises just when you think you have it figured out!

Having been up there many times, I believe there is no good time to be in a hurry upriver. Even when the water level is higher, those usually visible stumps then become submerged. I now some guys have great maps, but when they buzz through at 4000 rpm, I just shudder!

My next outing I'm going to try to find this booger.
I just don't know when I'll be able to go. Son's football practice is about to start.
That means banana for football! / frown on time I'll have for fishing

I really can't think of one single lake that doesn't have these hazards somewhere. Be careful out there!

Be safe,
