Well the heat continues (with hopefully a shot at some rain) so ventured into tying up some Rio Getters. Did some in "caddis green" Ice Dub and some in "golden brown" Ice dub. Used black spannflex for the legs on the green ones and brown barred tan nymph sili legs on the brown ones (hard to see the brown legs in the photo. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/07/full-111967-60281-rio_getters_ii.jpg)

Great job Bones. I actually tied up a couple on size 10 hooks last week. The first I have tied. Matt said he used mainly size 12 and 14.
A friend and I fished a drainage ditch in Houston last week. We fished for quite a while but couldn't actually catch any Rios. They were smaller Rios and just kept pecking at our flies. He switched over to a size 14 midge of some sort and caught 3 Rios immediately. He had to watch them take it.
So of course I purchased some size 12 and 14 hooks to tie some Rio Getters, Briminators and midges on for my next Rio fishing trip.

These are on a #12 B10S; also did some with bead-chain. I'm not sure I'd go as small as #14. The last time I went that small I couldn't keep the bigger shiners off the hook. I'm gonna try and hit Brushy Creek sometime this week and give these new ones a whirl. Also want to tie up some worms with the new squishy material in #12 and #10.

Thanks for the comments. Just got back from doing some cow work up in Colorado and looking forward to some fishing and some tying. Looks like the triple digit temps are about to break and fall into at least the low to mid 90s so getting out wont be so painful.
