How is the fishing this summer on Ray Roberts? Is Ray Roberts still good for numbers?

Not sure that Ray Bob has ever been good for numbers... but right now it’s fishing super tough. Media was there on the 11th, some of the best locals on the lake fished it and there were only 2 limits and only 8 bags over 10 lbs.

It has had so much pressure with everyone being off. Partner and I have a bait that is our give up bait out there, guaranteed bite and they bite it and spit it before you can do anything. It is tough right now.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

We fished all day on the 11th. I didn't know there was a Media tournament the same day. That explains why every tree line north of the island had a boat (or two or three) on it. We decided to go up Indian and it was a ghost town. Figured that was about as good a warning as any but we did it just get away from all the traffic. We ended up catching several fish but nothing of any size. We would not have exceeded 10lbs with our best 5. I caught a few on a squarebill and my partner caught his on a t-rigged brushhog. Had a friend who fished in Lick that same day and he caught better fish than us but not as many. He didn't give me all the details but I know how he fishes-almost never deeper than 5ft and will force feed them a texas rigged brushhog.

I fished Ray Roberts in the late 80 and early 90s and we would catch 40 -50 bass a day, Granted I was fishing it 2-3 days a week. I went about 15 or 16 years without fishing at all. Getting back into it now again and getting ready to start fishing Ray Roberts some. I live right off Eagle Mountain Lake. I will have to say it is a tough one to figure for sure.

I fished Roberts today till noon, ended up catching only 2 and that was the only two bites I got. They both came on a fluke and both were on laydowns that I had to make 5 plus casts at to get bit. Neither fish was over 3lbs.

We caught 2 fish and fished hard for 9 hours. I think they have had too much pressure. If you guys would avoid the lake for a few months, I'd appreciate it.

I've heard it's been really tough lately but Dannie Golden (and his clients) are catching decent ones from time to time. I think it's tough because of the the insane traffic out there from the jammed tourney season because of the China flu and so may people being on the water social distancing combined with the crazy heat we've had the last 3 weeks. In Champs, we caught all our fish in less than 4' of water and I'd guess that bite is all but gone considering temps in those areas have to be in the low to mid 90's at this point.
