Very good question. I have been pondering this for years but never thought to just ask.

Left food on the counter in Lubbock last week at a convince store . I know that $.78 will break the bank. Put I refuse to add to a business coffers out of craziness. The article states a shortage of change. Metal coins is not a material that goes away readily. Where did the change go too. People spend change and it moves around. The young lady at the counter attempted to say the Corvid might be on coins. I ask about the five dollar bill in hand and she said you need to pay for the food. I am at a lost for sanity.

If I'm paying cash and they don't accept it, their loss. Rarely is there a store I pay cash for something at that is the only store selling the items I want. May be true of BIG purchase items like a car or something, but I don't pay cash for stuff like that.I get some of the other [censored] going on, but cash is legal tender so f anyone not accepting it.

What a maroon!

Was a character that Richard Pryor made up many years ago evidently but that’s not how I first heard it.

Buddies I fished and traveled with years ago started calling me that because I was always flipping jigs up in the muddy shallow/swampy creeks of whatever lake we were at and usually caught fish regardless of the time of year.

Actually caught one yesterday on Fork in no more than 18” water....just short of the 24” mark...she was fat!

Haven’t been called that in years (those two friends have passed) but thought it was just a funny (dumb) screen name for TFF....nothing special

I knew someone was going to say that in this thread.

That's not what "legal tender" means. Your wife was wrong.
