This is a really stupid business man. I would not care if my shop did it or not, I would have fixed it. Would much rather have bigfish posting about what a stand up shop I was running than posting what a rotten shop I was. One good post can sell you a boat. One bad post, especially in the bass fishing community, WILL cost you more business than you will ever know.

Note: everytime my car or boat comes out of a shop, it gets the full once over before it leaves.

If it was a stupid idea, you can be assured I have already done it

You guys need to look at this from the Dealer's perspective.

I'm pretty certain that the Owner does not actually know himself if his guys damaged the cowling or not. Whether or not they would fess up if they did, who knows?

I certainly understand his position that 6 weeks after you took delivery of the motor, you just noticed that it was damaged in his shop. If I was the Owner,I would have trouble accepting that.

I don't know anything about that shop, whether or not they are a big shop or small. Whether or not they can afford to replace a cowling that they may or may not have damaged just for customer good will, for a customer that seems intent on dragging them down. I doubt I would, and I understand customers and customer service. If I legitimately believed that a customer was trying to steal from me, I'd ride the fight to the end. I'm in the major construction business and have a history of customer service and letting them steal from me to keep them happy, but some times you just have to say NO !!

I will caution the poster. If you insist on escalating this issue, which I do not recommend, your statements of FACTS must be accurate. Opinions, and guesses are meaningless.

I like your last three words. "I won't be back."

STF UP AND MOVE ON !!

I recently moved back to TX and just saw this post. I'm about to put some more work into my boat and have a few more "additions" installed. I moved out near the Lake Medina area, so this posted info will affect my decision of what shop to utilize.
Thank you for your post. Good luck to ya.

Not taking sides here but not finding the damage until 6 weeks later dont help your argument. How long was it that you last had the cover off before getting serviced? You didn't mention that.

I make trips up to Bandrea often. I own south texas boat outfitters. Let me know what you need.

Yes. I did mention that. The timeline was outline of when in shop and when I found it approximately 6-8 weeks later. Read entirety of post. I included all dates and phone call timeline the best I could when I put it out to BBB too.

I just got notice today that the two Air duct cowling parts (as Yamaha calls them) have been shipped from SIM Yamaha! Excited to get them in. May try to get the others fixed up and have as resale if anyone need them.

I never have taken my cover off for repairs. I have backed into the garage and had the same area of the cowling hit the garage door. Never did that again.

Not going to take sides.
However when you’re in the business you will encounter people with less than virtuous ways. It happens

#1 of more than a few.
Dude buys a new boat. (No names no brands). Comes in six weeks later all and I mean all jacked up. This is a pos it broke just going down the lake. Well let’s take a look.

Three minutes later asked him what did you hit? Nothing. Are you sure? His rage was epic. I SAID nothing! I want a new boat!

Ok then how did this tree bark get in this impact crack? Real rage then. We planted it I’m gonna sue you’re all thieves!

So stuff happens

garage is 26-6 deep as it was customer built with house that got done in December. Only 2 times I parked it was with a spotter who went fishing with me. It's never hit anything unless you count the crank bait my buddy hooked in the cover.

And yes. Cover will come off next time for whoever wrenches on it.

Just wanted to let people know that there are other options around San Antonio area where Yamaha can be worked on. Passing along my terrible experience with one such service I had. To each his own....

Last comment I'll make on here
