![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/iorg1lh.jpg) The pic above from spring six years ago when giant slavinia was a big problem.. Same area I was at yesterday. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/07/full-76913-60033-avg3d87.jpg) Two pics above were of the most impressive duck blind I've ever seen, six years ago. What's left of it now in pic below. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/07/full-76913-60037-fjqhqjx.jpg) Wondering what happened to it... Hurricane Harvey in 2017? Nope, Parks and Wildlife decided in 2017 they all had to go in that part of the lake. No more permanent duck blinds. Its sad in a way but I'm sure there were a lot of crappy ones that were an eyesore. Found the link below explaining how it went down. https://www.ketr.org/post/duck-blinds-coming-down-caddo-lake

Great pics. Where did you put in? I put in at Caddo State Park, at camping area canoe and kayak launch. They have canoe rentals as well. It’s not far from boat ramp. There were people there but not as busy as I would have thought. What surprised me most was not one mosquito bite. I'd asked park ranger at office how bad they were and all she said was, "its a swamp" as if that was all that need be said. I think it was too hot for mosquitoes. It was nearly 9:30 p.m. when I pulled out. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/07/full-76913-60045-ldgmo2d.jpg) Nice sand bottom

This shows where the state park is... road to camping area and kayak launch is due north of park entrance in Mill Pond.. paddle out to Big Cypress Bayou (busy waterway) with water to 30 feet deep... hang a right and paddle to canal that connects to Carter Lake. On some maps the cut off is called Hell's Half Acre It looks like a lot of open water in map but go to satellite and you won't see any water from the air. https://goo.gl/maps/CvAkzfvyxyhZHUwKA Marked trail all the way through that is easy to follow unless you go exploring and then you will get turned around. If you tried this at night or without flashlight to pick up reflective on trail markers, you'd be screwed until daylight when you could get your bearings straightened out. Its about a four mile paddle to where I went. Caught all my little guys in the exact same places I did the first time there. It seemed the fish were more interested in getting oxygen than worried about the sun. Most of the spots I was getting bit had vegetation with gaps in it where wind was creating current thought it and no trees directly overhead. Lots of activity throughout the day with bait showing itself when getting chased... by little guys.

Went looking for the Comet as it was time for it to show up, just before 10 p.m. Never found a high spot in any of the area roads where I had a view to the northwest anywhere near the horizon. I did find this place as I was lost and not exactly sure where I was, but near Uncertain... I think. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/07/full-76913-60052-etkel97.jpg)
