I just used PVC that mounts to the base pole and slip a big golf umbrella into the pipe. I have a longer pipe to raise and lower the golf umbrella with a round handle that fits inside the pipe.

I bought a Millenium Marine Umbrella Holder for my wife and it is a great product. I am probably going to buy a second one for my end of my boat!

Cost me about $100 for both...

I use PVC pipe to hold golf umbrellas with the straight handle, and after the 2nd one blew out and had to be caught before it sunk, I drilled a hole through the side of the PVC beside the umbrella handle and I now use a pin to hold them in the pipe ... haven't had one blow out since.

My umbrella poles go all the way to the floor, and are inside of a pool noodle. I cant even pull them out. They will withstand wind up to 10-12mph. Each to their own, mine will rotate 360* around the seats. I can get out of the sun from morning to evening. Up / down in about 2 minutes, and store in rod locker perfectly.
