Since March, it seems all the places I fished in summers past have become packed with people and the fish are heavily fished from the bank on the west side of DFW. I get bites but fewer catches and I find myself trying different baits and different presentations more often than in the past.

Another thing I've noticed in the last couple of weeks is that the ponds in and around Keller and the mid-cities are over run with turtles. It seems to be that there are more turtles than years past but maybe it's just my perception. I'm primarily an ultralight fisher and find that the turtles keep my targeted fish sizes away from the bank. Perhaps the turtles were fed well earlier in the season with everyone being outdoors and using all the local trails and they had a population boom? I dunno.

How are you all handling bank fishing during this season of life? Any mid summer luck as the temperatures climb into triple digits? Seeing more people than usual in the mid summer months?

I agree that more people are fishing. And it is a great year for turtles. In many of the areas I have been fishing, the fishing is mostly over by 10 am.

2020 is the year of Corona fishing. More people are getting outdoors to social distance and what's the best thing to do outdoors? FISHING! Get on the bank fishing map that is pinned here in the bank fishing section and spend a day exploring. I have a few of my own 'go to' spots that I found because of that map. Not necessarily spots on the map, but the map got me to the general location and I just explored. I also like to fish when most people are not out. Many times after 10pm. No matter what you fish for, big fish can be caught at night. Good Luck and tight lines!

I have places out in the middle of know where! I have seen signs for the first time of anglers fishing there. I have also seen people swimming in some of those spots as well. Can't blame them for wanting to have some enjoyments in life.

Depending on what you are fishing for, it can be tough. I fish only for bass, but I like to change things up. While some guys use Texas rigged plastics around cover, I’ll throw a squarebill or maybe a spinnerbait. My go to bait during the summer is a big worm. Fish the plastics slow and bounce a moving bait off cover.

Night time is $$$$$ in targeted areas, fish are not used to lures at night so it's like a fresh pond.

Agreed! Last weekend I went kayak fishing and can usually see maybe 8 kayaks the whole day , but noooo this time we counted over 25 . It’s frustrating I also believe it pushes us to find better spots , as a bank fisherman I would fish at night as a kayaker I just move to other areas . Get on Google and hunt for better bank areas I know it can get thought with limited space but it’s worth a try.
