I've been trying to venture away from my bank beating ways and learn to catch fish deeper. When reading your graph what kinda stuff are you looking for? The last few trips out, I've been focusing on fishing creek channel drop offs with either timber or chunk rock. How do YOU guys fish something like this?

But in the meantime, throw deep diving cranks to check for active biters. If nobody eats within 10-15 minutes, it’s time to break out the jigs and Carolina rigs. Drag them around and see if anyone eats. Still no action? Either find a new spot, or tie on a jigging spoon or jigging rapala. Work them at various depths, keeping an eye on your sonar to make sure you’re at the level the fish are. At least, that’s the process I follow. It works too sometimes...like today. Both these fish ate crankbaits in 16 foot of water on a tapering point near a channel as did some others.

That's what most of the fish I caught bit, a deeper diving crank. I sat in 10-11ft and cast into 18-20 and drug it up the channel bank. Almost every bite came when the crank hit treetops. I couldn't buy a bite on bottom baits.

Might try a trip with James Biggs on here. You will learn more in one day than you ever thought possible. Real on the water experience goes a long way to improve your confidence.

What lakes does he fish?

Yeah. During peak summer like this, bass can be REALLY active and wanting a fast moving lure like a crankbait while ignoring slow moving stuff. Bill Murphy used to speed troll cranks in California to nab monsters when other people were crawling tiny worms and live crawfish around unsuccessfully. It’s hard to figure bass moods, so any given day they might want a fast moving crank or a jig barely crawled along. A few weeks ago, it was jig city for me but now it’s all about zipping cranks around. Who knows what next time will be like?!

I like points and humps that are adjacent/connected to creek bends with the structure you mentioned. Here is a pic of a hump adjacent to a creek drop and 90 degree bend with bass on top. Bottom of creek is 28 fow and drop is lined with timber they suspend in when not feeding. They move out of the creek to the hump to feed. There are two humps on either side of the creek bend connected with a little deeper saddle and the humps taper on one side to the creek ledge/drop. I like to sit shallow and fish uphill from the creek and/or saddle to top of hump. If that doesn’t work I sit in the channel and throw to / over the hump. Right now I am catching most on Carolina rigged fluke on 5-6 ft leader. The bite is super subtle and finicky. Couldn’t get bit on cranks or spoons. Pics below are off unit on troll motor with spot lock on.

May I ask what gen bird that is on trolling motor? None of mine show fish like that. Thanks.
