I'm planning to visit the fish hatchery in Athens and wondered if there are any public places I can stop on the way to and from there for some bank fishing. Thank you in advance!

Lake Athens is right next to the hatchery, I have seen people fishing to the right of the public boat ramp close to the bridge, it's full of lily pads, looks like it would hold bass? Good luck

Was just up there today looking for a place to bank fish, the Lilly pads and tall grass are so thick not many options with out a boat.

Where the 2495 road crosses the bridge on Lake Athens is a pretty good place to fish. There is enough dry land under the bridge to set up. I have seen some people fishing there when I was in the tube and have watched them catch bass, gills and cats right there. No pads and no grass. If I was fishing there I would cast out in the direction of parking lot since the water on that side is deeper in front of the bridge.
