Second the profish 400. Do all, fast, super stable and super light weight.

If you have the time to wait for the right deal and are willing to buy used, a second hand boat is often an awesome deal. You'll see a lot of yaks for sale that haven't been wet 3 times. Check the history here on TFF for examples. Every now and then, you'll find two of the same model being sold.

like the man says...if you're swimming in the ocean and get bitten by a shark, its not a shark attack. You're in THEIR neighborhood. If you're at home in your shower, turn around and a shark is in there with you...THAT'S a shark attack

As long as storage and transportation allow it the Viking Profish 400 gets my vote hands down. The Vibe Seaghost 130 is another fishing kayak that has a great platform. It is heavier than the Profish 400 but also have a lot of storage and paddles well. The Seaghost 110 is also a good choice and it's the same weight as the Profish 400. If you can find a Ocean Kayak Tetra those are good paddling kayaks. Less stable than the others I've mentioned but is light and easy to paddle.

Used can be a great way to go but you're gonna have a hard time finding a used Profish 400. Ryan Ford with Viking Kayaks USA (in Rockport) is the only Viking dealer in the state (unless they've added another one in the last few months). He sometimes has used demo's for sale. Check with Ryan.

You get out of it what you put into it!

Wilderness Systems,Tarpon 120 in Breeze Blue if buying new! thumb Top of the line 12 footer and will hold value better than most. Perception Pescadore Pro would be a close second... just depends on what color you like best. Both quality kayaks.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

Check out the Old Town Sportmans 120. Stable, solid and comfortable seating.

Will hold it's value too.

Guessing this may be your first kayaks.
Read all you can.
If can not rent, got see them.
One thought is get something that will get you on the water but not that expensive, price of a few rentals.
Determine to stick with it for about a year.
In that time you will know what you like, do not like, really want, what is important to you.

In normal times you would be able to rent different kayaks.
Talk to Mariner Sails and Kayak Instruction Inc.
Probably some other places that rent kayaks.

If still thinking about a nicer kayak:
Look for a used Jackson kayak. Coosa, Coosa Hd, Cuda, Mayfly. About any of the jackson fishing kayaks.
An interesting choice could be the Jackson Big Tuna. Can be used as a single or tandem kayak.
Hard to find used ones but if you keep your eyes open they do pop up and sometimes with some good prices.
Surprisingly have seen where selling a pair a couple times recently.
Well built, well thought out, great company for support.

I’ve had a ton of kayaks. 2 Ok Tridents, 5 Hobies, a Viking 440. Just asking for my mom whose budget is less.

Thanks all. The tarpon and old town look good. They’ll want the better seats. I like the old town due to rod holders.
