I think they're worth it for certain setups, mostly big moving baits that catch the wind. Much easier to bomb a 6xd into the wind, or a big blade or something like that. Maybe I'm just not an experienced angler

The thing I love about the DCs is learning to skip and teaching beginners.

I'm slowly replacing my old Chronarchs and Calcuttas with SLX DC's. I love the DC and don't mind the sound at all.

I have a DC on my DD22 rod and my Carolina rig rod and they are awesome. Some applications just don't justify a DC reel but spinnerbaits and jerkbaits are two other baits where a DC shines.

The Daiwa Tatula SV TW is a better value and easier to set up than the Curado DC if you need cast control.


The 2020 version is awesome.

The DC's that I have for myself and my son have been great.
I have a little bit of experience with casting.

Those SLXs are hard to beat for the money, and you can find used ones for 130-150.
