My touch screen went out on my HDS 12 Gen3. Three months out of warranty. Anyone else have this problem? Lowrance gave me a repair estimate $1125.00. For that amount, thinking of getting a new unit....and it will not be a Lowrance.

I'm not sure the others will be much different. In fairness to them, the screen is probably the most expensive component of the entire product. Making a weather-tolerant screen (especially for high heat) that's visible in full sunlight is a tough challenge and requires they drive the screen hard, which is abusive in itself. Of course, they buy them from a screen manufacturer, but the specs make them expensive.

I had the exact same problem happen to my HDS 9 Gen 3. Do a search to see if you can find my original post and all the replies. Was about 4-5 weeks ago I think. The most common reply was that I mistakenly pushed/engaged the Touch Screen On/Off button. Second most popular reply was that I had accidentally dimmed the screen too much. They were all good recommendations but none of them fixed the issue. Got the same reply you did from Lowrance.

Was yours close on warranty, and did Lowrance offer you any promotional/upgrade price on a newer model? Just curious

About 6 months out of warranty period. Long story short, I had touch screen stop working on one unit and my other Gen 3 filled with water. All same model year. I moved one unit to my bow (the lack of touch screen isn't as important for me up there) and upgraded my console unit (the one that filled with water) to the Live version you're helping me with on a different post. (transducer issues) Lowrance did offer me a trade-in/upgrade discount from the unit that filled with water. Not impressed with a 2 1/2 year old Gen 3 unit filling with water and one screen losing touch capabilities but it is what it is.

I'm sure it stings given the large $$$ we're talking here. At least you got something out of the deal on one of them. I know that doesn't make the heartburn go away, but maybe better than nothing.
I had an expensive brand jump-charger fail on me (battery defect - swelling), just out of warranty. I got a discount offer as a consolation, but that discount from their list price still left the price at a higher point than I could buy the new product for at retail. So much for that "offer." I went with NOCO on my replacement, and it's been good.

Welp, I haven't checked behind the actual unit yet but I did check for the 2D transducer. I can't see anything in the bilge area that resembles a small transducer. Doesn't mean it's not there. There's an area behind and below the battery charger that I need to gain access to. It's the lowest spot in the bilge area which is where I'm guessing is the best spot for a transducer to be mounted.(I am not overly impressed with the bilge layout/access on these newer Skeeters but that's a whole different topic.) That said, I DID find a cable (pic below) that was thrown in the box with my old transducer. It's got a blue connector end. Any chance this is the cable we were hoping would be behind (or plugged into) the unit??

I won’t use Lowrance again...

...their customer service was terrible after my unit broke that was less than a year ago.

Thankfully Cabelas in Allen took the whole thing back and gave me a refund and I put that money toward a new Garmin....best decision I’ve made and I’ve only had it out twice.

Since you have chosen to bash Lowrance, why don't you elaborate on how you were wronged on warranty for a unit that was purchased less than a year ago? The scant facts you gave don't jive.

Why do you care so much about my in depth experience with Lowrance? Are you sponsored by them? Do you own shares in the company...

Or you could just stay in your lane instead of trying to criticize people for having a different experience and letting people know they prefer a different product.

Maybe quit trying to be an forum detective and connecting the dots of the facts in a bass fishing post....clown.

No, idiot, I was hoping if there was a pitfall to avoid I might learn from what you discovered, but I guess you can't consider that I was asking "what not to do" for my benefit should something go wrong with one of my units.... like "they said my warranty was void because I had mentioned blah blah, etc." Given the way you responded to my question, I can guess why you didn't get cooperation from Lowrance..
