I will be fishing out of Galveston and Freeport area the end of July for 4 days. My goal is to get to know the area better. I would like to attempt to make a snapper run if weather is permitting.

We will be fishing out of a 24' bay boat with 200hp. I have been researching and trying to find any information possible for off shore locations of rigs/ reefs but only come up with nothing! I do have a navionics chip and have not looked on there yet.

I have been off shore multiple times with a charter but never in my personal boat. I am open to any and all tips/ tricks for finding structure to fish off shore and any recommended bay techniques also.

I'm not a complete beginner, just a N.E. Texan looking for some guidance. My contact info is below if you do not want to post on the forum.

Thank you all in advance,
Josh

Texas Parks and Wildlife posts many reef locations. That is the place to start.

I have been 60 miles offshore in my 21-foot Kenner tunnel hull, but safety Is the most important thing if you are going to take a bay boat offshore. If you go past cell phone range you should have a satellite phone or EPIRB.

You might look into buying a marine VHF radio if you're going offshore.
