Taking the wife to Texoma next weekend. Wanting to catch fish of any kind. We’re staying at Cedar Bayou this trip. I’m hoping the water is deep enough to find the crappie under the dock. I’m also taking my 20’ bluewave so we can go around the islands or further east and look for birds in hopes of finding whites and stripers. I’ll also have my cast net if I can find some shad. This will be my 3rd trip to this lake in 5 years. Anybody have any other thoughts? Not seeing many recent reports from guides or anyone on here so I’m concerned.

Three post about Texoma on first page...Lots of smaller fish with occasional good ones and sand bass close to you they are on the flats venture east and north for better schools of stripers, I do not have much summer Crappie fishing experience but I’m sure you can find some in cedar bayou

I see scubaarcheys video and yours. If I could afford it, I’d love to get her out with Capt. Jimmy or another good guide. I’m at my home lake, Alan Henry. Phone service is sketchy so YouTube takes forever. I am hoping to find some birds working and plan to check around the islands, as that’s the area I’m slightly familiar with. I hope I can put her on some fish but only have Friday and Saturday on the water. If I can get her interested, I’d like to move from here to a “real lake.” Thanks for the reply sir. Fingers crossed I can show her a good time.

Any topwater has been very early and very late and you have to be there when it happens it’s over quick pretty much the same thing on the big summer runs as well

The most reliable method seems to be; 1. Chasing schools when they are on top (poppers or sassy shad) 2. Trolling with A rigs 3. I still use shad but use a thumper to try to get them to concentrate on the humps and drop offs, shad will definitely work if you find the schools. I try to target the structure near where fish are schooling. Once the schooling is over then I will drift and thump over nearby structure to bring the fish to me...
I will be out there Saturday, text me if you want, 972 689-4245. If I find any I will text you, also will see if you are finding bait. I get there late (8-8:30).

I have thumper installed in my boat. Sounds like I will now have a brother in law and a father in law on board as well. Amazing who all is in when they find out someone else is taking a boat and doing all the leg work . I hope to be out early but with this much family I’m afraid they’ll want to delay me but I’ll sure holler at ya. We’re darn sure gonna give it a go because if this deal works out I’ll have better access to this lake. Cody (806)790-9475.
