I usually judge the quality of a restaurant by how well they do a CFS. Tough and chewy ain't gonna get it. Side dishes can be fixed by anyone, but I get a kick out of being asked white or brown gravy. Brown gravy is for Yankees.

there is a restaurant/bar on the square in sulphur springs that does an excellent job on cfs and unless you can eat half a cow, order the small portion.

nw corner with outside tables.

looked it up, corner grub house. across from the veterans memorial and court house

The cafe in the stockyard in Amarillo is hard to beat. But what is that yellow stuff on the plate? Ever heard of fried okra?

It's canned corn ... easy, cheap, and generally tasteless except for the fructose syrup added.

Iā€™m gonna catch heck for this, but, I know I have been a vocal non supporter of Texas pot roast (aka brisket), but honestly as it relates to chicken fried steak, I can take it or leave it bolt
