Now that the wind died down today, some good catching reported on the channel side of the North Jetty near the Boat Cut. Live shrimp under a popping cork with about a five foot leader was working for trout. Channel Tuna, Pompeno, & Flatfish, were caught using bottom rigs. Water quality was very good despite the previous winds.

Live shrimp shouldn't be problem to get now. Shrimping season has started in the Gulf Waters. The bigger shrimp boats will drag at night and dock in the mornings...then it's bed time for the crew. Fishing/trolling behind these boats can pay off. The boats create a chum line as the nets drag the bottom. Be cautious not to interfere with these long nets. This reminds me of the big nets the shrimpers drag off the North Carolina Coast near Jacksonville. They had long nets too but at the end of each net was a rope affixed to it with a fairly large Orange plastic float ball that skimmed along the surface of the water to indicate the end of the net.
