Just picked up my 2 new Hobie PA14 360's from Fin Factory today. Can't wait to break at least one of them in tomorrow. Been waiting on these for a while. They look sweeter than pair of boobies...prove me wrong. nuts

Love those colors! clap

Congrats! thumb

What kind of water are you fishing? I see you bought them in Corpus.

I had the maiden voyage on Coleto Creek this weekend. Will be fishing for kingfish, tarpon & jacks around the north jetty at Port A this weekend.
I'll be fishing fresh and salt but I'll be doing bass fishing the majority of the time. My son has arranged a ride to the sword grounds... He wants to be the first to land a swordfish from a kayak.
I'm planning on getting a state guide license and guide bass trips around south and central TX in them.

Gotcha. I have a 2016 PA14 and take it offshore. Love offshore fishing. This weekend the swell forecast looks good (finally). Sunday looks a little better than Saturday. Pressure will play a factor Saturday.

Good luck on the water!

I have the exact same PA and love it. The 360 fins make a HUGE difference when bass fishing.

For what its worth, it feels like the 360 fins are a little less efficient on straight hauls. My GPS confirms this "feeling". However, in fairness, I am comparing the GPS from two different units. My old PA 180 had a Garmin and my new PA 360 has a Lowrance. This could be false readings that got into my head?

Based upon the GPS from the different units, a normal fast cadence would result in 4mph to 4.5mph in my PA 180 (Garmin). The same cadence in my PA 360 results in 3.75mph to 4mph (Lowrance).

Saying this, the 360 fins are exponentially more efficient in maneuvering the bank and staying on structure. All and all I am very happy that I upgraded to the 360.

Mike was that 4-4.5 mph with turbo fins? Not sure if all the 180 drives come with turbos or not.

yes, I had turbo fins on the 180 (and also on the 360).

It could be a false reading that got into my head... but it "feels" a little less efficient.

I contemplated that it's possible that the 360 fins are not perfectly straight when on straight runs. When I tweak it a little from side to side it does seem to make a difference.

I just did a comparison using some take-off software on the fins from the 180 drive on the PA14 to the fins on the 360 drive. I'm just using a photo I pulled from the internet so this could be a little off but based on what I'm seeing the width of the 180 fins is about 3.75" and the width of the 360 fins is about 3.25". Again the accuracy of the scale on a stock photo could be a little off but if not this would explain your difference.

Interesting! I will measure the 360 fins against my son's 180 fins (2018 outback) when I get a chance.

I should clarify I'm measuring at the bottom of the fins and not at the widest part.

I was able to confirm that the 180 turbo fins are exactly the same as the 360 turbo fins.

So, if the 360 really is less efficient, it must be something in the gear ratios or the ability to run slightly out of a dead straight alignment... Or a little bit of both. It could also be drag from the lower part of the drive (the 360 is a little larger and a little lower)

Whatever the case, this is less of a gripe and more of an observation. Even if the 360 is a little less efficient on destination hauls, it is more than made up for on maneuverability while fishing.
