What is the overall opinion on when to use spinning reel set up? I have seen people "finesse fish" only with spinning tackle. Is there really a right or wrong?

I personally only throw my plastic worms t rigged, shaky head, ect...on my spinning tackle. The more I think about it, the why portion of that decision does not have a very solid answer.

I get that bait casting reels are appear to be more efficient from a reeling perspective and less clunky when working a bait that requires a decent amount of retrieve work.

Anyways, what is the reason behind using spinning tackle in place of bait casting or vice versa.

For me, I use the spinning setup when I am casting ultra light weight lures that a lot of bait casters can't or are harder to cast for any distance. Everything else is baitcast unless the grandkids are onboard. They use spincast instead of learning to use baitcast.

I use spinning tackle for pretty much everything but cranking, flipping, throwing a T-rig, C-rig, and frogging lol I’m the guy that will have 10 spinning rods and 10 bait casting combos on the front deck.

Also I don’t find spinning tackle clunky at all my twin powers get the job done better or equally to my metaniums.

My spinning rods are there for 2 reasons ....... When I need or want to use 8# line on grubs, hair jigs, or other lighter baits ....... And when I want a softer rod.

All of my worms, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and topwaters are thrown on either 12# or 20# line and a spinning reel won't handle that line weight without a problem.

I like spinning rods for vertical presentations(like dropshot) and skipping wacky worms way under docks. Everything else is bait casting setups.
