We have a Shark brand robot vacuum. I have it programmed to run for about an hour a day in the middle of the day while we are at work. It helps keep the dog hair down and eliminates the amount of time my wife has to swiffer/sweet the house. We have a one story with all tile and hardwood floors with rugs, so our house sets up nicely for a robot vacuum.

So hopefully you ordered a Roomba and not a Rumba.
I have a Roomba 960 and absolutely love it. I have two dogs and two cats and it runs at 2AM everyday. The amount of hair and [censored] it picks up everyday is astounding. I got it ok sale and with military discount at Lowe’s so it has already paid for itself IMO. As soon as we redid the floors to LVP I bought it and swear by it.
It learns everything and teaches itself where to go and not go.

I love mine, but I’m gonna warn you. If you have any animals that use urine as biological warfare, it will be the roaring evil beast that must die in its sleep. Save yourself some pain and get puppy pee pads to drape over the top. They will attack it in the middle of the night when it’s quiet.

This happened to us several years ago, it smeared [censored] all over a room, under the bed, all over the base boards. Just a mess

I have been married 28 years and there is no way in heck I would ever buy my wife a household appliance for our anniversary, her birthday, Mother's Day, or Christmas!

Oh, and I always put the dog up when running one. Seen the pics of them smearing pet feces everywhere.

We have roombas. They are awesome as long as you clean them well after they run. They are designed to maintain a clean floor, not clean a dirty floor. Run them often. This is accurate. They are great for keeping it pretty clean once it is clean. They aren't a replacement for the weekly vacuum job.
