It's summertime and the saltwater at Port Aransas is on fire. Black drum and redfish are schooled up. We're getting ready for the Woody's Powderpuffs tournament; so we're just out here looking for fish to make sure we can catch them.

Using freelined live shrimp, we cast into the schools with light tackle and bring in some descent fish for dinner. Hope you enjoyed the video and get something useful out of it.

Great video. you track them down with live scope? I heard garmin put out an adapter for its livescope system that is supposed to be good in the shallow water like down at the texas coast.

Thanks. If you’re talking about perspective, yes I have. But it doesn’t do much for me. If you follow my channel, you may think I’d use LVS for shining my shoes if it could smile. Amazing technology.
Thanks for your support.

Fun video! Get’s me pumped for our trip next week down near there.

Just curious, when you’re fishing for those drums/reds. Do you ever use popping corks with your shrimp? Does it make a difference one way or another? Any tips you provide on what to be looking for?

Yes, I've used popping corks also. Most of the time, I prefer the simplicity of freeline. Once the current gets to the point where it's difficult to get the freeline to where it needs to go, I'll switch to popping cork and carolina rigged.

You getting pumped about the trip there next week is music to my ears. Knowing that you can find your own fish is very rewarding. I'll also be in PortA again this coming week. Good luck!
