There are trim eaters over at Oak Thicket as well. So far I have been spared by them over at Oak Thicket. I think primarily because there are a few more people around there. They roost n the big trees in the cove past Park Prairie. I saw them on my truck the time they ate all the rubber stuff. Figured they were crapping on it. They ate windshield wipers, sun roof trim, trim on the bed cover and stickers off the back window. I had never heard they will do that. It’s supposed to be due to the glue having animal products in it.

My brother has a 14’ center console, 50hp, very light, and single axle trailer. He pulls it with a truck and we have had hell getting it out of the water at Park Prairie. I have a 20 ft fish/ski, 200hp, on a double axle trailer, and pull with a suburban. Knock on wood, but my tires have never slipped at PP.

They do score it, but after a few months, normal use smooths it plus the algae growth. A light right foot fixes the problem. Bingo. Never had an issue at either Fayette ramp, and my rig weighs more than 90% of your bass boats.. lol. 2wd truck. It's all about who's driving..... You wanna floor it, then stuff like this happens.. Not hard to lightly get on the gas with foot still on the brake, then slowly release the brake. You'll notice your rig will start coming out of the water without burning out

Duck weed on Choke Canyon claimed a few back in the day. We used the boat to save my truck more than once.
Thanks, Billy

I know with the wrong tires its not about how much gas you push. I know because the stock GM tires on a 2 wheel drive will struggle to get traction pulling your empty trailer out of the water.
Tires make the difference here, if he truly slipped into the water. or did the parking brake disengage?

If tires are spinning click your emergency brake one click. If still spinning do one click at a time until they quit spinning.

Let up off the gas works well too.

All the saltwater ramps down here are nice and slimy too, some maybe worse than fayette. I don't know, maybe I haven't gotten her down in the slime yet on Fayette. Never an issue at either ramps so far

So all this got me to thinking. On a 4wd would engaging w4d prior to backing and then put in park when stopped .. The front still being on dry ramp and the front not being able to turn free because of being in 4wd?? so no sliding down the ramp. Any of that make sense? Friend of mine slid on Canyon lake ramp 11 Rebecca Creek. Supposed to be pretty treacherous.

I remember not being able to get my trailer out at Fayette Oak Thicket. Had guys standing on my bumper. Hit the gas till the wheels spin, truck was equipped with a locking diff, took about 5 minutes to get the truck up the ramp. I remember taking close to 10 minutes for me to get up Diablo east on Amistad when it was really low.
After that those 2 experiences and a wet grass episode, i never ran stock tires again. And therefore never had an issue ever again. I rarely use my 4x4 when loading and unloading.
If your worried then put in 4x4 before you back down, that way u do not have to engage it when your trying to save your truck.
