There will be a vaccine for Covid. Two companies are already in Phase III trials.

I think you’re confusing a cure vs a vaccine.

You are forgetting that we developed vaccines for a lot of different diseases. Why would you think we can’t develop one for Covid?
diphtheria tetanus pertussis (whooping cough) poliomyelitis (polio) measles mumps rubella haemophilus influenzae type b infections hepatitis B influenza pneumococcal infections

The experts said near the beginning that Covid would have a vaccine. They broke down the genome in China in under a month. Contrast that to previous viruses which take as long as two years to map. Thats also how they know it was a natural mutation and not invented in a lab.
Yes, they will invent a vaccine, IMO, but nobody knows for sure.

The problem is the mutation rate. Do we even know how long a vaccine would be effective until the strain has mutated beyond any protection it might give?

No confusion, a vaccine is not a cure, especially if a significant number of the population doesn't have it administered. The priority will be a safe vaccine with high efficacy and low potential side effects.

If there will be a vaccine to cure the common cold Then how in the hell are they expected to come up with a cure for covid COVID-19 is not a virus; it is an illness caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus which is a strain of the broad coronavirus family. It was named SARS-COV-2 because it is very closely related to the SARS-COV or SARS-COV-1 strain which causes the illness "severe acute respiratory syndrome" or SARS which we DO have a vaccine for. Likewise, the common cold is caused by multiple virus families. While it CAN be caused by some coronaviruses, the primary cause of the common cold is the rhinovirus. Personally, I remain hopeful that a vaccine will come someday. I just have my doubts that it will be by the end of the year like a lot of authorities are touting.

^^^^ True, just as measles is caused by the morbillivirus, but very few call it the morbillivirus vaccine.

I think there is a good chance they'll develop a vaccine. It may well wind up being seasonally administrated like the flu vaccine. I've wondered a few times if creating this vaccine could lead to break throughs that could help us create a vaccine for the common cold as well. Imagine not having to deal with that twice a year for the rest of your life.

The potential vaccines are being developed in multiple different countries. Some of those countries have very little interest regarding who gets elected in November.
