I'm looking at a boat has a 2017 150 HO. It is extremely clean with no issues and low hours. Anyone out there have experience with these? Not looking to start a thread on what the best motor is. Im mostly just curious about the Evinrude specifically. Last few motors I have had were all Mercury. Thanks

are you aware that e-rude just quit making engines and there are numerous reports of outboard dealers refusing to work on e-rudesโ€ฆ.might want to check around and see if there is a dealer near you who could work on your engine if needed....also....that boat/motor should be seriously discounted due to e-rude abruptly getting out of the outboard business and leaving dealers with e-rude engines they are going to have a difficult time selling.....

Wow. I missed that. Not sure how. I guess I was living under a rock. You saved me on that purchase.

I wouldn't let that stop you.. Plenty of people still work on Rudes. I run an Optimax (a hunk of [censored]) and I'd go back to an Evinrude right here right now.

I have an Etec 250 that I purchased new. Would not trade it. Great engine with 2 years warranty left. My dealer, also my mechanic, said not to worry that parts will always be available. BRP is honoring all warranties and will continue support of the Evinrude products. Word is they are working on a new propulsion system. I had an Etec 225 prior to this engine for 11 years.

I would not be scared to purchase if I found a reliable dealer that plans to be in business a while and is willing to work on the Rude. The deal would have to be very sweet, though...

I have no feelings toward e-rude one way or another but there were some people on bass boat central in same situation as yours and found out they would have to travel several hundred miles to find a mechanic willing to do warranty or repair work on e-rude engines...you might want to do some checking in your area to see what is available...

I appreciate all the input. I told the seller I had to pass. I was going to buy it had they not gone out of business. They may say now that they will honor warranty work but who knows in 6 months. That was part of the appeal of the deal I was looking at. The motor was covered through 2027 because of a promotion evinrude was doing when the guy had the boat built.
