Week before last our 70 year old custodian Manuel stopped by my office to let me know his son was hospitalized with Covid. Manuel’s son was diabetic and suffered with some Kidney issues. Manuel advised that he couldn’t see him but nurses were keeping him posted. Saturday of last week Manuel called me to let me know he was also being hospitalized with Covid. He was transported to San Antonio and seemed to be doing well. I talked to him daily between breathing treatments and on Tuesday he informed me his son had passed. I talked to his wife Janie that evening to offer my condolences and check on Manuel’s prognosis. She was at home but advised that Manuel felt better. I talked to Manuel Friday and he said he was feeling pretty good. I didn’t talk to him Saturday figuring I would give him a break. When I woke up this morning I saw that I missed a call from Manuel at 12:49 AM. The missed call gave me an uneasy feeling so I called back. I didn’t get an answer but within about an hour Manuel’s daughter called to let me know Manuel passed away at 3:30 am. Words cannot express how my heart goes out to this family that lost a brother and father in the same week. Manuel was a damn hard worker and even worked 6 days a week unless the Cowboys were playing. I didn’t want to pass this on as some political fodder but I wanted to let you know that real people have died and in this case a vital, hard working man who was loved by all who knew him. Be vigilant and look out for yourselves! I will also add that during this same time frame my wife had Covid and was really sick for about three days. She recovered and I never got it.

Condolences Lee and to the family and friends of Manuel.

Keep looking forward. That’s why windshields are larger than rear view mirrors.

I'm very sorry for your loss and the loss his family and friends have suffered. I have lost 2 cousins to this crud very early on. I know it's real.
