Did a little video on the 5 weird fish that nobody seems to fish for down here. Had some good options left off the list. Would love to know what OTHER fish we need to be eating that nobody knows about!

C'mon.... You gotta tell people if they freeze a sand trout it turns into mush. Ok fresh, just don't freeze them. The last snot rocket I cleaned will be the last snot rocket gafftop I ever clean. Spadefish? Never tried one, pass on the comment. Sorry, I'd scrape the mold off a cheese sandwich before I eat a sting ray.

Gafftop was extremely slimey and, after totally wasting a towel (upsetting wife), then gutted and fillet. Fillets were soaked in buttermilk overnight 6 hours then seasoned with Tony C's and pan-fried with beer batter. Was actually pretty good. Worth the trouble, probably not but if starving maybe. Spade never caught one- looks like mostly bone. I thought trigger was all bone but surprised and ate up good. Sand trout fresh taste good. Not sure, but if mushy , might be okay on seafood gumbo? Just guessing, never tried. Sting ray- caught a 7#er and removed stinger while cleaning and used the backstrap which cooked like shark. Was very good (marinated overnight in Italian). From What I understand, many take skin off wings and cut doughnut holes and cook like scallops. Would try and I've been told that some restaurants cook as faux scallops (rumor/fact?) Whiting- cheap and excellent table fare and freeze okay, at least a week. Never kept longer than that due to family liking them ?

When we weren't out with a party we would go out for ourselves and picnic tied to a rig. Fish straight down for snapper and spadefish. They're great tasting hard fighting little fish.

Sea Robin, not a lot of meat on them but very tasty. ??? Seriously? I've always wanted to catch a giant puffer fish and eat it, though I've heard they can be toxic if you don't butcher them correctly.
