Happy Fourth of July! "American Flag" Salmon fly (more or less  ) Hook: Alec Jackson size 1.5 Tag: Silver small and red silk Tail: Red Am. Pheasant crest Butt: White ostrich herl Body: Blue silk Ribs: Silver med and white silk Throat: Red and white hackle Wings: Red and white goose Cheeks: Blue guinea and Jungle fowl This one exceeded my current skill level, but I'm still proud of it and what it stands for.

LOL!!! I saw that title and knew you had tied a red, white and blue fly. It's about time you post some pictures of those flies in a big fish's mouth  Really awesome work Rex

Thanks for comments, I'm having fun tying this style of fly. But, there are better patterns for catching fish, especially around here.
I've tried fishing some of these flies, and they're not very good bass flies. They are cool to watch in the water. They sink nice and level, the hook stays horizontal. But, they also sink very slowly since they are not weighted. 90% of my time is spent fishing still water situations and a cone head, bead head, or lead eye fly will trigger more bass strikes than these flies.
