My family is heading down to Crystal Beach,TX in a couple of weeks. Could someone give us tips on where to wade-fish in the area? This will be a first for us. Thank you!

Douglas - highly recommend you try the North Jetty at 17th street. There is a bait camp there too.
Fish on the right side of the jetty facing out to sea. It is only waist deep. Shuffle your feet to avoid a sting ray hit, which will be a trip to the hospital and extremely painful.

Best fishing time is sunrise and sunset. A popping cork with live shrimp is almost impossible to beat. Berkley GULP shrimp in NewPenny color can be killer too. Gold and silver spoons in 1/4 and 1/2 Oz sizes, Heddon Spook Jr topwater, Bondonkadonk topwater, soft plastics on small jig heads....etc, etc.

Also Bolivar Flats is close by.

Do some internet searches and watch YouTube videos so you know what gear to bring.

Be sure to rinse your gear with fresh water after fishing and let it dry. Otherwise the salt water can ruin the reel and the lures.
Do not mix lures you fished with lures you did not fish, until after you have rinsed off (with fresh water) the lures you put in the saltwater. Even then, I would wait a few days before mixing lures just to ensure the saltwater does not corrode anything.

Hope this helps.

Ken

Can't say the beaches will be open bc of this virus and Social distancing stuff. The county may have certain hours it's open. Call the County Offices to see. SW winds have been pretty strong lately and messing up the water. Can be a dangerous place to wade if your not familiar with the area.......sand bars , guts etc.
