First thing. Thank you in advance for information that is correct ( no I heard it from a friend that heard it from a friend that drove by a bass boat one time)
I have a 2012 250 pro xs. I removed one of the black rubber lines ( shown in pic).
My question is. Do I have to have the pump primed after removing this hose?
I have seen posts on BBC concerning replacement of pump O rings and needing to then have pump primed.
But did not know if re- prime is necessary if only 1 hose had been disconnected?
Thanks again [Linked Image]

First off that's the oil pump your referencing. I would recommend priming the pump after disconnecting a hose.

You can prime the pump using the "shift switch activation procedure", but by doing this, the outboard resets to break-in mode, which means you will be using a bit extra oil for a few hours. Make sure your oil reservoirs are both full, and you have a fully charged battery. With the kill switch in the ON position, turn the key to ON position(do not crank engine). Move the shift lever from neutral to fwd 5 times. This must be done within 5 seconds of turning the key to ON.

Sorry I knew it was oil pump. Miss spoke. I have now taken it apart seeing that an O ring can cause the leak ( BBC and YouTube). [Linked Image]
I do not see a o ring this far. I am guessing further disassemble require ? And if yes, what else comes apart to find o ring?

This should give you all the info you need to do the job. Since you opened up the pump, I suggest you have a reputable dealer bleed the pump and oil system. You'll need to look on line and find a seal kit.

If you have problems finding a seal kit call this guy. Looks like they put their own seal kit together.

Got it this far. Now what? No o ring yet. Not sure how to get that plate off? You can tell it is wampus jawed in there.
