What was your favorite firecracker from the old days? My vote would go to the tried and true cherry bomb. I miss the auto bombs, too.

Bottle rockets were cool, but the good Roman candles were my favorite.

Oh man, what memories of those and sling shots and a 1960 Chevy. Light em and sling shot them out the window of a moving car. They were the same as an M80 but round!

Definitely bottle rockets. We use to have bottle rocket battles at Lake Lewisville. Kids dont know what they are missing. My boss and a coworker that i was training went to NC years ago. We spent the weekend in Virginia and they still sold them long after Texas banned. We talked our naive coworker into packing 8 gross in her carry on. Back in the 70s most of the roofs in Richardson were cedar shakes. I remember lots of fires on the 4th.

When I was a yute in the mean streets of suburban Chicago, the M80 was the nuclear option we all admired. I might still be wanted there for dropping a couple down the public library's vent shaft.
