Anybody know how stumpy the circled area is on Conroe? I am assuming that it is not safe to run there but idling should be fine? Stow-A-Way marina marked for reference

Dozer, it may not be all of it, or perfect, but it sure the heck helps a boater to know when he may be flirting with disaster - vs. being blissful as some are. So many times I've seen pleasure boaters run through stuff I would not dare. I bet they didn't even know. I have yet to witness a big crunch - but I bet I wouldn't last 30 seconds if I tried it! roflmao

Right before Johnson Bluff, there are 2 stumps about 8" under the water about 40 yards off the bank. Hard to see until your right up on them. the one closer to the bank had a clear water bottle tied too it last weekend. I always idle as soon as I turn the main lake corner leaving stowaway headed up lake.

Absolutely not true, stumps everywhere in that area. Idle only would strongly be my suggestion, I know from experience. There are some big stumps not far off the bank and well south of Johnson Bluffs. I’ve seen numerous boats run through there and they got lucky and it definitely doesn’t mean they knew what they were doing.

The map link posted above is very accurate and unless you really know the lake I’d suggest going by it.

Folks this is just one example of many examples of bad internet information. Be careful who you listen to - whether it is a stump field, batteries, baits, boats and etc.

My apologies texaskikker I have made this run to just before Johnson's Bluff many times and seen ALOT of others make this run as well with no issues at all. I have also studied every section of this area on Google Earth from 2011. Would never want to give bad information. My apologies again.

I was unfortunate and hit a big stump and ruined my lower unit and a brand new, first time out, $1000 prop. Insurance claim was $9,000 which was ridiculous but lower units are outrageous plus the tear down and inspection. Literally a few seconds after I hit the stump a boat came flying by almost exactly where I had just hit the stump but he missed it. At full pool I wouldn’t have hit it but with the lake down some it changes things a lot. It was beneath the surface and not visible. This was well south of Johnson Bluffs not too far off the bank so be careful in that area.

About half of the red circled area is ok. The north part of it is not. Just check it with Side imaging on a idle thru. Then you can see what mark you use to take it off plane.
