Im confused you guys are all worried about 30-50 deaths a year but when they asked you to stay inside for covid " it was stupid big infringement of your rights and covid is no big deal, after all it has killed less than the flu each year". It is not only the deaths it is the terrible life changing physical damage they cause.

Wow falling back to the old divert method. The two have exactly zero to do with each other. There are many ways to die and being mauled to death by a dog bred to maul to death can easily be emilinated. Keep it up PB owners because the longer you own one the higher your odds go.

I'm sorry, the bigger question is how did a two year old get out of the house unnoticed by the parent(s) or guardian(s)? Sorry, I disagree. That is not the bigger question unless she wandered into the yard where the dog was kept. I agree, the owners should be liable both civilly and criminally. I agree the Owner of the dog should be tried and sentenced in criminal and civil court. Once people start serving time they will make better choices in life. what about people who cause fatal traffic accidents?

Even the best trained/raised dog can have a bad day, not feel good, get scared, feel threatened, whatever it may be... when it happens the animal can bite. If a Cairn Terrier bites your kid, they wind up with a band-aid and a lesson. If your pit bites your kid, well that can end badly.

I am very uneasy anytime I am around one, just don't trust them, no way in a million years would I leave my Granddaughter get near one, and she loves animals.

My daughter got a pit bull out of a shelter. He was over a year old and is friendly to everyone. He bites when he plays if you start it but normally he does not use his mouth. He never closes his mouth or bites down. In fact one of their cats attack him as often as he attacks her. They are best friends.
But outside when I take him for a walk you can see he's still dangerous. If someone he does not know appears he becomes interested. A dog and he wants to go right to it. I imagine if given the right situation he could hurt someone. I don't know nor want to say it but if you know dogs and how they act and react you would be very cautious of Bandit.

I can’t believe there are no pitbull advocates on here. I’ll do it. I have one and a half (one full, one mix). The two best dogs I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot. I’ve fostered four - two were incredible. Two were dog aggressive which is relatively common. I have had them in my house with my kids since they were very young. The first one (mix) we got two weeks before my daughter was born. She has been the gentlest dog with kids. I’d trust her with an infant. They can pull her ears, stick fingers in her eyes, etc. No reaction. Ever. The only reason we got a second was she was too terrified of strangers because she had probably been beaten senseless as a puppy. The second one (full pit) is even better. Smart as [censored]. Dying to please us. Simple to train. Ask any dog trainer, literally any. They will all tell you pits are great dogs. I understand the hesitation to get one. I spent a long time researching them before I ever got one. Look past the headlines. Also keep in mind that a lot of times, the dogs that attack people are misidentified by the dimwit media. An American pitbull terrier is not the same as an American Staffordshire terrier, a Staffordshire terrier, an American Bulldog, or a bull terrier but I’ll bet the guys on here calling for the euthanization of all “pitbulls” wouldn’t know the difference. They’re all good dogs. I’ve actually had them in my house, with children. The only “face” they’d “rip off” would be the guy who comes in my house and messes with my family. That said, I’m not even positive they’d do that. I know I won’t change any minds. I know how it looks. But before you go in public and yap about how someone’s pets should be “shot in the face”, do a little research. Meet one of these dogs. Read an article written by a trainer, not TMZ. You may learn something. The American Pitbull Terrier is recognized by the UKC but NOT the AKC. AKC recognizes the Staffordshire Terrier.

I'll borrow the Gun Theory:
So .... if that poor lost two year old at the start of this thread, had wandered into the street .... would you all go out and shoot every Ford, Chevy, Dodge, or Toyota?

This has got to be the absolute most ridiculous statement I have read on here. This one gets my vote. It’s going to be tough to top, in my opinion.
