My Inspiron internet is no longer connecting. It’s about 10 years old. Time to get a new home computer? Not sure what I should get. So many options and I don’t speak that language. We have iPads and iPhones, so I am thinking maybe about Mac this time around. All I need it for is light home use. Nothing fancy, but I want it to be fast and easy to use. Any advice? TIA

10 years old? Computers are like dog-years, so your computer is more like 70 years old. They are inexpensive, get a new one.

Screw getting it worked on, you will spend almost 200 bucks or more trying to fix and old outdated laptop.

I was in your shoes couple years ago, I sent my off to get fixed and came back with other issues.

I went with Lenovo Think Pads, I got 2 of them, been going on 2 years and so far I am pretty impressed with them.

I got a 14" screen for travel and it took a few days to get used to the screen size but I am good with it now, It fantastic to travel with, and 14" screen s good now, I went from a 17"

I then got a 15" Thinkpad as well for my living room area.

I waited till they were on sale and had one built and the 2nd one I purchased one already built, I purchased directly from Lenovo.

What ever brand you buy, make sure you catch them on sale, which they seem to run sales all the times either at the factory or at your locals Best Buy, etc

I don't know how logical a test like this is but it gives you a pick between a Mac and a Windows PC.
I like my Imac but its about $1300 dollars for a 21.5" screen like mine. This one is also 10 years old.

If it’s just light use, those all in one desk top models where the hard drive is contained in the monitor are very affordable and work well. Windows 10 is getting so bloated that the smaller cost effective laptops are running out of space quickly affecting their speed and utility.

So if the stated issue is your internet is no longer connecting, the question is why?

If it is a desktop, laptop, or All in one does not matter, if the issue is the onboard wireless chip
then you by pass that with a usb wireless adapter, simple and cost effective.

Then again perhaps it is a driver issue

So many possibilities

Really curious to know what your system specs are?

I bought an HP Pavilion 15t in April. I customized it by upgrading the ram and memory... Around $700. Love it.

So no WiFi connection was only part of it. I got a message that my Windows Service had ended and needed to upgrade to Win10. I turn this laptop on about 3-4 times per YEAR. It’s a really nice laptop. Dell Inspiron Intel Core i5 with a 17” screen multi media type deal.

Once Win10 upgrade finished, it works fine. Thanks all for the thoughts and input.
